The English Beef and Lamb Quality Standard Mark (QSM) can now be found on A. Wright and Son products following our recent Red Tractor Approved status.
As the only Boston-based butcher to be approved for QSM, our products have been through the strict selection process to ensure tenderness and a higher welfare meat than the law requires. Quality Standard Mark Beef and Lamb is fully assured and independently inspected at every stage, covering farms where the animals were reared, transport to the abattoir and the animal’s overall welfare before and during slaughter, including best practice hygiene standards during the processing stages.
Introduced in 2004, the scheme was developed as a way to tackle consumer concerns about the quality of red meat. Those who are accepted as members onto the scheme must be sourcing QSM beef and lamb, as well as been approved by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).
A. Wright and Son are both a QSM approved abattoir and an independent retail butcher, joining a number of other retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose in the scheme. All of our products bearing the QSM status will be labelled and carry the English flag on each product’s packaging.
Proud to be part of the QSM scheme, A. Wright and Son are pleased to be recognised as sourcing the highest quality of red meat.
“It gives our customers peace of mind to know that our meat is sourced from higher welfare British farms, and that we are able to offer them true farm to fork traceability for every piece of meat we sell,” says company owner Andrew Wright following approval to both Red Tractor Assurance and QSM schemes.
